Today we are releasing WordPress tip numbero (#) 2.
Malicious users might use scripts/bots to scrape authors tags to find usernames and proceed with a brute force attack to attempt to guess your username and password. Using a nickname will help mask your username login.
- Login to your WordPress
- Go to “users” on the left menu
- Click “Your Profile”
- Add a nickname or first name
- From the drop down menu “Display name publicly as” select something different than your username.
This will make it slightly harder for them to guess your credentials as now they won’t know what your username is.
Have a great weekend and be safe!
